      Shop: To indulge in some shopping whilst in Berlin, there are plenty of options to chose from. A popular spot is the Alexa Shopping Centre located in one of the best known squares in Berlin. With such a central location, and an abundance of shops, it is the easiest place to go shopping if you are based centrally in Berlin. Die Mitte Shopping Centre is also a good spot to shop in located in the same square.

      If that wasn't enough shopping for you, and you are based in East Berlin, Friederichstrabe has an abundance of shops, ranging from the cheaper high street stores, to high end fashion such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The whole street is filled to the brim with shops, and is a main artery of Berlin.

      For shopping with a difference you may want to check out Hackescher Markt. It sports an array of shops, from unique boutiques, to traditional little market stalls.

      You can also find a huge selection in Berlin of International cuisine. Be it French, Asian, Italian, Turkish, or even Mexican, you will find a huge array of restaurants to try here ranging from the cheap and easy to the Michelin Starred.

      Drink: Germany is a country famous for it's steins of beer, and Berlin is no different from that. There are many place to go out and drink in Berlin. Whether you just want a quiet pub to taste a local Berlin beer, or to head somewhere more energetic or extravagant. Berlin has it all!

      Head to the area of Kollwitzplatz if you are looking for late night drinking with a more laid back, casual feel to it. This place is a haven for students, backpackers, and just generally people looking for affordable priced beer. Particular highlights here include November, a café/pub popular with locals, and Zum Schmutzigen Hobby, a pub which has attracted the likes of Robbie Williams and Ke$ha in the past.

      If you want to experience the local Berlin punk scene, White Trash is a really good place to experience. Not only it is a nightclub, but it's also a tattoo parlour and restaurant serving really cheap and tasty meals.

      Stay: Berlin is a huge multi-national city, and as such, it has an abundance of accommodation options for you choose from. Be it a high end hotels such as the Brandenburger Hof Berlin, a cosy guest house like Pension Reiter, or a budget friendly hostel like Baxpax Downtown Hostel.

      Walk: At 891.63 squared kilometres, there is much to see and do whilst out walking in Berlin! The Free walking tour of Berlin run by Sandmans New Europe is a great way to see the city, get your bearings of Berlin, and also find out a bit about the city's history too.

      Alternatively, if you just want to just head out on your own for a relaxing stroll, Friedrichshain Park has been a popular retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life for many years, and is certainly worth a stroll.

      Get Out: If you want to get out of Berlin for the day, a trip to the nearby town of Cottbus, about a 2.5 hour drive away, is very beautiful. Park Branitz and Schloss Branitz being particular highlights of the area.

      For a real cultural experience, a trip to Dresden, near the Czeck border, is also a popular escape. A city that has emerged as a cultural and economic hub since the 90's.

      Listen: With the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Berlin was at one once again, truly reborn in that moment. This makes Berlin such a young city in comparison to other European destinations, and resulting has been a vibrant music scene to match it's underground art scene. Venues to experience this include Magnet Club, Sage Club, and Astra Kulturhaus.

      Avoid: The weather! Berlin is based in the North East of Germany, and as a result it is experiences the cold and rain like the rest of Northern Europe... so wrap up warm, and be prepared for unpredictable weather!
