The Amalfi Drive, Italy. This adventurous drive from Sorrento city to the village of Amalfi intersects some of the most beautiful scenery in Italy. This drive is not for the faint hearted; the sheer drop to the base of the rugged cliffs is unprotected but for a few sections of railings along the 50 km drive. The views are spectacular with brilliant displays of flowers mixing with the stark rocky cliffs. Some drivers chose to drive the northbound route to Amalfi along the inside lane, away from the cliff edge which gives less a feeling of precariousness.
Stellenbosch to Paarl, Wine Route, South Africa. This particular winegrowing region of South Africa is nestled at the base of huge mountains that shelter the bountiful vines of this exceptional region. The route will take you through the quaint town of Stellenbosch, still boasting old world Dutch architecture, to an area settled over 300 years ago by French Huguenots. They discovered the valley was perfect wine growing and the Franschhoek region was born. The Paarl area is home to the KWV Wine Emporium, in existence since 1918. The KWV has the world's largest wine cellar with the Cathedral Cellar a magnificent sight filled to the ceiling with casks of the local produce.
