United Kingdom
The four distinctive regions of the United Kingdom have a diverse array of culture, adventure and activities for every visitor. London, England, is home to the Royal Family, the London Eye, cruises on the Thames and a buzzing nightlife. Museums, theatres, galleries, culture sites, fantastic eateries and a great time are all to be had in this vibrant multicultural city. The historic site of Stonehenge, the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge and the beautifully maintained town of Bath should also be on the visitor’s itinerary. The literary history can be explored in Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Wales is a wonderful holiday destination with the rolling hills, friendly locals and voice choirs providing an excellent backdrop for any trip. Snowdonia National Park is walker’s dream destination; nearby Llandudno, a quaint seaside Victorian resort, is perfect for a short break away from it all. Kayaking, mountain climbing or shopping in the small craft shops or partying the night away in Cardiff, there is something for all the family.
Scotland’s highlands, windswept scenes and deep lochs are reminiscent of times past. Edinburgh Castle keeps watch over an historic city that bustles with the biggest arts festival in the world every August. Travel through lush, green countryside before stopping by one of the myriad of lochs for some excellent fishing. Enjoy the journey through untamed countryside to magnificent waterfalls at Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve and onward to one of the windswept northern isles.
Belfast is the main city of Northern Ireland and bustles with development. Much has changed since the days when the Titanic was built in the Harland and Wolff shipyard. Lough Neagh has a wide variety of water sports for trying out and The Giant's Causeway, on the Co. Antrim coast, has an exciting story about how it was really formed by a mythical being rather than the more sedate theory of volcanic activity. Surrounded with the jagged coastline along the Atlantic shore The Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, built by the local fisherman, traverses an 80-foot deep chasm from the mainland to a small island and is an exciting way to cross to the small rocky outcrop.
