Glastonbury Festival

The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is held in South West England every year and is the biggest greenfield music and performance festival in the world, consistantly selling its 150,000 tickets well in advance of the actual festival.

The festival is usually held over the last full weekend of June each year, and features some of the biggest and best names in music. On top of the astounding selection of bands and superstar djs, the festival features comedy and dance performances, circus acts , cabaret shows and theatre, as well as a ‘silent disco’, various holistic and relaxation tents, a purpose built stone circle, a jazz lounge, child friendly areas, the unbelievable Lost Vagueness area…. Well, you get the idea. It’s really, really good.

Glastonbury is as well known for its wet weather and mud-covered festival-goers as it is for its music and performances. If you plan on attending, try not to bring any clothing – or anything – of any great value. Chances are it will get lost stolen, or meet it’s death in a giant puddle of mud. You will do far better to forget your material attachments and accept that you are here for a good time, not a long time, and the chances of ending up knee-deep in mud and water are high. Very high.

Let’s not be under any illusions here – a trip to the Glastonbury Festival is unlikely to come very cheap, what with tickets, travel, food, drink, clothing, and every other conceivable expense you are likely to incur. One thing is for certain, however – it is almost guaranteed that the money you spend will be money very well spent indeed, as Glastonbury features very highly in its previous attendees favourite memories (ask anyone you know that has been if you don’t believe me).

Consider - on top of everything that you have already read about Glastonbury - that the festival retains and upholds its philosophy as being a positive and ethically sound event that supports various charities. Oxfam, Greenpeace and Wateraid are the main beneficiaries of the event. Yes, all that fun is actually for a good cause.
Now go, quick, and see if you are lucky enough to find a ticket….
