The airport is situated approximately 8km west of the city of Valencia. Valencia Airport is reached by following the N220 which links up with the N335 and A-3 toll road.

About Valencia

Wining and wining in Requena:

Well maybe we should say wining and dining, but in all honesty the reason for coming to Requena is undoubtedly its superb red wine - Utiel Requena is the regions specialty red wine, made from the bobal grape. Take a wine tour of the region which will bring you on a tour, led by local experts, to the area's principal Bodegas and allow you to taste wines, enjoy stunning rural vistas and landmark sights, and enjoy the most sumptuous and delectable local cuisine on offer.

One-day tours start from just €30 Euros, and when it is considered that this includes a visit and full tour of two bodegas, a trip to a regional scenic/heritage spot (i.e. caves, craft houses, museums etc), and a typical lunch menu, this tour actually works out quite cheap, and should be within the reach of even the most strict budget travelers. Of course, if you really need to remain thrifty, you could always purchase a bottle or two of wine and have an al fresco picnic and wine tasting session at low cost!

El Saler:

El Saler is a perfect day trip for both golfers and sun-slaves - not only is it home to the superb Campo de Golf El Saler, but it also boasts the stunning Playa de El Saler, a lovely 5km-long golden beach that is an ideal family spot during the day and a real favourite among windsurfers in the evening. If you are the only one in your group that wants to visit El Saler for golf, then your companions should have little trouble with whiling away a few hours here while you hit the fairways at the nearby Campo de Golf El Saler.

This course is known for being one of the great Spanish golfing challenges, with a real Scottish links feel to it. Open links fairways meet difficult greens on this 6355 metre, Par 72 course. Green Fees are €100 in high season (you will pay less in low season) - cheap in comparison to many of the golf courses that regularly rate below this course in polls.

Castellón de la Plana:

The Castellón province stretches for 70 miles along the Mediterranean coast of Spain, a mountainous expanse of land punctuated with quiet villages and glorious mountain walks. Castellón de la Plana is a medieval city, situated between the Desert de Las Palmas and the Mediterranean. Walk around the compact city to get a real feel for the place - there is a planetarium, a number of museums, park and gardens, or if you prefer some fresh air and exercise there are a number of sporting activities on offer. Nearly every water sport you can imagine is offered here including the cheaper options of cycling and hiking for budget travelers, as well as some great low cost angling for thrifty fishermen.

There is superb tapas served at low cost in and around the Plaza de Santa Clara, as well as in the Grao area of the town (near the port).
