Granada Airport is located less than 20 km west of the city of Granada. The airport is a major destination for visitors travelling to the warm region of Andalucia (in winter, skiing) in southern Spain. Granada Airport is about 40 km from the great skiing region of Sierra Nevada to the south east.

The airport is composed of one runway and one terminal. Recent years have brought a dramatic increase in the number of travellers using the airport; 600,000 to more than 800,000 as the number of airlines flying to the airport increases. The facilities at the airport include a restaurant area, basic banking services and some shopping facilities.
