Alicante Airport is located 11 km south of Alicante with the Mediterranean less than 5 km to the east of the airport. The increase in visitors visiting the area can make the airport a very crowded place, especially in the summer months. While the check-in area may be sufficient in the off season, during holidays visitors can expect queues that can stretch out into the hot weather, beyond the reaches of even the most powerful air conditioning.
There is an abundance of distractions in the airport- a wide selection of shops, cafes and banking facilities. If visitors are looking for a last minute flurry of gift shopping, there are jewellery shops with an enticing array of sparkly things, duty-free shops, and an abundance of other smaller newsagents and clothing stores to wander about. The car rental area is located in the arrivals hall of the airport near the baggage reclaim.
